Discolored Headlamp Lens Cover

  • Most vehicles now have a protective, transparent, plastic lens covering the headlights.
  • These lenses protect expensive lamps from flying stones and road debris but they discolor over time.
  • Becoming opaque and cloudy, these lens can severely restrict the amount of light reaching the road.
  • This clouding is caused by accumulated exposure to ultraviolet light.
  • This discoloration can become noticeable in as little as 2 years.
  • The headlamp lens are replaceable only with an assembly, some of them costing in excess of $600.00 retail.

1:		 Spread the polish on the headlamp. Use about as much as a "loonie" would cover. Too much polish makes it difficult to "buff" it all off. It's easier to do two small applications if necessary.

2:		 Use the buffing ball on your drill to smear the polish evenly over the headlamp applying a minimal amount of pressure. Gradually increase the pressure on the ball to polish the headlamp to its desired finish.
For the Professional Kit that includes Wax and Micro-Fibre Cloth:

3:		 Apply the wax to a wet cloth and wipe it onto the headlamp. Let the wax dry completely then using the other ball in the professional kit, buff the wax off to attain a glossy finish.

 4: 		Use the micro-fibre cloth to remove any remaining haze.
